The MX community is abuzz this weekend in So. Calif. with Monster Energy AMA Supercross returning to Anaheim Stadium. A2, in the past few years, has been used to raise Breast Cancer awareness and so it is not a surprise to see many teams and riders in custom pink gear and stickers.
The biggest news coming into Saturday is 2-time champion, James Stewart, announcing that he does in fact have a torn ACL in his right knee but will continue to race through it and should be more aggressive, considering he now knows the full extent of the injury. Davi Millsaps carries a very small points lead over Justin Barcia into the weekend after Millsaps notched a 1st and 3rd in the first two rounds.
In amateur motocross, the TransworldMX/Muscle Milk series heads to Cahuilla Creek on Sunday for round #2 of the Winter Series. The opener was at Perris Raceway, two weeks ago, and Craig Davis and crew did a terrific job getting through the program in a timely fashion. Information and early registration for this event is available online until 11pm PST tonight.
AV Motorplex in Lancaster is having round #2 of their Winter Cup this weekend. Also for the Grand Prix riders, Glen Helen Raceway will host its SRA Grand Prix at their San Bernardino facility. Next friday, Glen Helen will also hold the 956 Invitational, an amateur show-case race in the memory of Jesse Masterpool.
Most fans in the So. Calif. Area should be headed to Anaheim this weekend for a great show, but there are a few really strong amateur races. If you can't make it to Anaheim, catch the race on SPEED channel, or stream it live on Supercross.com, then get some rest and go racing on Sunday!
