Depending on how old you are Valerie Harper, 73, came to every week on the Mary Tyler Moore Show as Rhoda Morgenstern in the 1970s. The spin-off was called Rhoda an later she was Valerie Hogan on the show Valerie.
Ms. Harper will be on the show The Doctors on March 11, 2013 in her first television interview since she was diagnosed with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis. This is a terminal cancer and happens when a solid tumor spreads to the leptomeninges (membranes that surround the brain and the spinal cord). Lung tumors, breast tumors, and malignant melanoma comprise the majority of solid tumors spreading to the leptomeninges.
Ms. Harper battled lung cancer in 2009. She announced this diagnoses two days ago on March 6.
On the show she will talk about how she and her family are managing with the diagnosis, which gives her about three months to live!
