The Yardbirds were founded in the ‘60s by Jimmy Page who went on to form Led Zeppelin. The current incarnation has two original members of the Yardbirds: Jim McCarty on drums and backing vocals and Chris Dreja on rhythm guitar and backing vocals. One look at their promo picture from the website tells it all: the three on the left are in the new generation, and the two on the right are the veterans. Vanilla Fudge has three of their four original members from their heyday in the late ‘60s: Mark Stein, Vince Martell and Carmine Appice. Both bands started touring again in the mid-nineties after their initial outing.
