The American rock recording artist and songwriter was introduced to the world through his band Matchbox Twenty. Some of their hits include “3 am” and “Bent.” Recently Billboard Magazine named Thomas among the top 20 Hot 100 songwriters for the years 2000-2011. Thomas is the top-ranking rock-based songwriter on the countdown, largely due to the smash he wrote for Carlos Santana, for which he also sang lead vocals on called “Smooth.” Having released two solo albums since 2005, Thomas has risen as high as No. 5 on his own with "Lonely No More."
