Last year, nearly 500,000 meals were served through the Water Street Mission, the York Rescue Mission, the Lebanon Rescue Mission and Bethesda Mission. These meals were all provided through donations. The Rescue Mission Food Drive runs through 21 December. Winter is definitely in the air! It is also at the Annex 24 Gallery. The Gallery is hosting its 6th Annual Winter Exposition through the 21st. The Gallery is located at 24 West Walnut Street.
The Annual Pennsylvania German Folk Art Show and Sale, hosted by the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society, will run through 31 December. Admission is free. The display is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The Society is located at 2215 Millstream Road.
The Demuth Museum will feature over 100 pieces from its Art in a Box program. This program teaches the students about Charles Demuth’s art and life in general here in Lancaster. The exhibit runs through 29 December. The museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Admission will be by donation. The museum is located at 120 E King Street.
“Skolos and Wedell: A Poster Retrospective,” continues through January at the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D). The exhibit features the work of Nancy Skolos and Thomas Wedell. PCA&D is handicapped accessible. The school is located at 204 N Prince Street.

The Salvation Army encourages readers to participate in its annual Adopt A Family program. Drop off your new unwrapped packages this week from Monday through Wednesday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Call 717-397-7565 for more information, including needed items. Cylo is looking forward to helping you pick out your Christmas tree! Cylo’s Holiday Tree Farm will feature fresh cut Douglas and Frazier firs, priced under $40, from Clipper Magazine Stadium’s front parking lot. The trees will be available Thursdays and Fridays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays noon to 5 p.m. The Barnstormers’ team store will also be open, offering seasonal merchandise, stadium gift cards and special holiday ticket packages. There will also be holiday musical performances from area youth choirs and visits from Cylo Claus. Both the Holiday Tree Farm and the team store will be open through 22 December.
Enjoy the city by carriage! Horse drawn carriage rides will be departing from Fulton Bank at Penn Square. Rides are offered on a first come first served basis from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on 21 December.
This is the last weekend to get your photo taken with Santa in the lobby of the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square. He will be there Friday, 20 December from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday, 21 December from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Lancaster City Council will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, 17 December. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Southern Market Center, 100 S Queen Street.
The North Museum of Natural History & Science presents “Great Balls of Fire: Comets, Asteroids and Meteors.” The exhibit will run through 20 January. The planetarium also offers “Season of Light” through 3 January. The museum is known for its hands-on learning experiences and large planetarium. It is located at 400 College Avenue.
Friday is Music Friday in the City! Various artists and bands of various genres will perform at venues throughout Lancaster. Performances generally begin at 6 p.m.
The Lancaster Community Chorus of Music for Everyone will present a Holiday Concert, performing seasonal songs from around the world. There will also be a traditional sing-along. The Chorus will perform at the Marriott at Penn Square, 2 E. King Street, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Ware Center and Tellus360 present Aerosmith’s “Rock for the Rising Sun” on Tuesday. The concert will be at the Ware Center, 42 North Prince Street, at 7:30 p.m. After the concert, there will be a Aerosmith Tribute Party at Tellus360, 24 East King Street. Local artists will play hits by Aerosmith at the after party. The after party is expected to start around 9:30 p.m. Readers may purchase tickets by clicking here. Prices range from $5 to $12.
The Seasons – a Celtic folk band – will return to Tellus360. The band of siblings will take the stage at 8 p.m. on Thursday, 19 December. Must be 21 to attend. Tellus360 is located at 24 East King Street.
Black Cat will perform at the Federal Taphouse, 201 North Queen Street, Friday night, 20 December.

The Lancaster Young Professionals will hold their annual Holiday Mixer on 19 December from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry will host a Year End Update with Congressman Pitts on Monday, 16 December. The free event will be held at the Southern Market Center, 100 South Queen Street. It runs 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Registrations are required.
School District of Lancaster
A School Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 17 December. It will be held at 6 p.m. in the Recital Hall at JP McCaskey High School, 445 North Reservoir Street.
Zoetropolis will present A.C.O.D. on 18-22 December. Adam Scott portrays Carter who is an Adult Child of Divorce. Carter has survived his parents’ divorce and is mostly adjusted. Things though get interesting when his brother gets engaged and Carter has to bring their parents together for the wedding. Zoetropolis is located at 315 W James Street, at the corner of James and Mulberry Streets. Parking is available on Mulberry Street.
