While we’re all waiting for Philly Tech Week 2013 to open in Philadelphia on next week, tech junkies – and those who want to learn – are itching for some computer action. With that in mind, following are a few of the events that are taking place in the Greater Philadelphia Area in the week ahead, April 7 – 13, 2013.
International Conference on Hybrid Systems
April 8 – 11 , 2013 – Open to professionals, researchers, and scientists, the International Conference on Hybrid Systems opens on Monday at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia located at the Penn’s Landing waterfront at 201 S. Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia. Focusing on hybrid systems and modern computing used for systems control, this conference features interactive sessions and workshops that will cover such embedded systems topics as: synthesis, analysis, design, verification, software tools, and others. If you are interested in attending, there is still time to email the event’s organizer, the Association for Computing Machinery.
April 11, 2013 – Those who want to learn the basics can still do so with this weekly class held at the Free Public Library of Philadelphia, located at 1901 Vine Street, Philadelphia, 19103. Ideal for beginners with no computer experience at all, this class will teach such basics as how to sign up at the local free library to use a computer, how to use Microsoft Windows, how to use a mouse, and even how to surf the web using specific websites as examples. The class is open to 12 people, though because seats are “first come first serve,” so you’ll need to come a half an hour early to get a ticket, which are free. Bring your library card to register. For more information, the library asks you to call 215-686-5322.
