Jan. 2, 2013 - Wednesday - You can make things to take home from 10:00 am to 3:pm on Wednesday; at the Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens, located at 1354 N. Second Street, Rockford, IL. On Wednesday they will feature making sparkly snow swabs. You can participate free with an admission of $8.00, and $6.00 for nonresidents, kids ages 5 to 18 fees are $5.00 and $4.00 for residents. Jan. 3, 2013 - Thursday - You can go for an evening skate at the Winterland at Davis Park, 320 S. Wyman St., Rockford. They will feature outdoor ice skating on a 12,000 square foot synthetic ice surface with benches, evergreen trees and thousands of twinkling lights. The admission is free, and the skate rental is $3.00. The skating rink will remain open through Jan. 13. The hours are 6 to 8 pm, weekdays through Jan. 4. Jan. 4, 2013 - Friday - Go on a haunted tour at the Tinker Swiss Cottage/Museum, 411 Kent Street, from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. There will be paranormal experts that will conduct the tour and discusssion. The cost is $25.00 for persons ordering on line, and $30.00 at the door. If you are a member you would only pay $20.00. Jan. 5, 2013 - Saturday - 11:00 - 11am. at the Rockford Public Library, in the Little Theatre, 215 N. Wyman Street - This is a free event, and there will be stories about snowmen, sledding and other things that will remind you of how much fun the winter season can be.
