The week ahead: Find the blues in and around Atlanta, December 17-23, 2012

The holiday season is in full swing. Hanukkah is over before Monday and Christmas is almost here. It's time for getting together with friends and celebrating, and what better way than by going out to listen to great live music is one of the Atlanta areas great blues clubs? Here's where to find the music to share with friends and family or just enjoy for a little time for yourself this week:

Monday, Blind Willie's presents a "Toys for Tots" Benefit with "Elves on Strike" AKA the Aaron Trubic Trio. The cover is $5 or free with a new toy for the drive. All door proceeds also go to Toys for Tots.

By the way, if you are participating in Toys for Tots drives, Walgreens has great toys on sale for 2 for $6.99. That's not a paid advertisement, just a little hint to help you find great toys to donate!

Also Monday, The Truitt Lollis Trio is at Darwin's in Marietta and Dry White Toast is at Fat Matt's. You can also jam with Lola at Northside Tavern.

Tuesday, there's an amazing Music Matters benefit and Secret Santa Jam to benefit Atlanta's Open Door and a needy family at Steve's Live Music in Sandy Springs. Musicians already confirmed include Tommy Talton, Diane Durrett, Ric Seymour, Bobby Mobley, members of Wet Willie, members of Drippin' Wet, Lil Al of the Lee BoyTommy Talton, Diane Durrett, Ric Seymour, Bobby Mobley, members of Wet Willie, members of Drippin' Wet, Lil Al of the Lee Boys. The cover is $10 and please bring a new toy and non-perishable food.

Also Tuesday, jam with Bill Sheffield at Darwin's or catch The Hollidays at Blind Willie's or Burning Time at Fat Matt's.

Wednesday, Ross Pead is at Darwin's while Scott Glazer's Mojo Dojo is at Blind Willie's. and J.P. Blues is at Fat Matt's.

Thursday, Tommy Brown and The Shadows entertain at Blind Willie's and The Caznovas host the jam at Darwin's. Joe Grandsen's Big Band presents a holiday show with Francine Reed at Eddie's Attic.Meanwhile, Chickenshack is at Fat Matt's and The Breeze Kings appear at Northside Tavern.

Friday, John Sosebee is at Darwin's while Sandra Hall and The Shadows are at Blind Willie's. Sana Blues are at Fat Matt's and Rod Hamdallah is at Nik's Place in Marietta. Burnt Bacon offers a Pre-Christmas party at Northside Tavern.

Saturday, Eric Culbertson is at Darwin's and Houserocker Johnson is at Blind Willie's. Mr Chapman's Quarterly Review is at Fat Matt's. There's a holiday benefit party at Nik's Place and Burnt Bacon moves their party to Steve's Live Music.

Sunday, Tanglewood Tonic plays at Blind Willie's. Snake Legs is at Fat Matt's and Uncle Sugar is at Northside Tavern.
