The week ahead: Feb.13-17, Tippecanoe County

Wednesday 15th:  Healthy Rivers INitiative: Building an Indiana Conservation Legacy.  Angie Tilton, IDNR Healthy River INitiative Liason will speak on this program. HRI is Indiana’s largest conservation project.  It’s goal is to protect 69,000 acres in the Wabash River and Sugar Creek in Montgomery/Parke County.  The Wabash watershed is the largest in Indiana and the longest free flowing river in the US.  Dams near the source and at Huntington are the only current dams on the river.  Remnants of mill dams remain in places, but do not span the river.  Program will be held at Lily Nature Center at Celery Bog from 1-3PM, suitable for older students.
