Lots going on this week in the Colorado film industry. Tues, Dec. 6th is the annual Colorado Film and Video Association Christmas party at the Denver Chophouse. Admission is free to CFVA members and $20 to all others. This year’s party is sponsored by Walk the Line Films and High Noon Entertainment.
If you’d rather see some films, check out the Columbia College Chicago Alumni Association & Network’s 2nd annual “CAAN Night at the Movies” taking place at the Bug Theatre, Tuesday night at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 (cash or check only) at the door. Films showing are “When Skies Are Blue” by Tony Nawrocki; “The Small Assassin” from John W. Bosher and William Maursky; “Lenny Morris vs. the Universe” by producers Andrew Sompels, Leah Kilpatrick and Chris Pluchar, director Evan Powers and writer Jason Servi; “Mission: Mom Possible” by Morocco Omari; “A Penny Earned” from writer/director TJ Mino; and “Who’s Mama! Joe Mama!” from event organizer and all around awesome guy Sean Jourdan.
This Thursday night, Denver theatre audiences are in for a rare treat when film and television star Bill Pullman (“Space Balls”, “While You Were Sleeping”, “Torchwood”) comes to town to perform in a benefit for “Visionbox”, a local theatre academy and performance company. Tickets for the show are $20, or you can go to the after party and actually meet Pullman for $100. He will be performing excerpts from “Healing Wars” by Liz Lerman.
Finally on Saturday, December 10th, the Colorado Film Forum will be hosting a mock voice-over casting session for all Denver area actors who are interested in breaking into the voice-over market. The meeting will take place at the Koelbel Library (5955 S. Holly St., Centennial, CO 80121) at 1:30 pm. Join the Colorado Film Forum’s Meetup group to learn more.
