The Week Ahead in D.C. Movie Reviews: Feb. 13-19

Happy Singles Awareness Week to all residents of D.C. This Means War, a new romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon, gets an early release for Valentine’s Day. For those of you who find yourselves alone this week, an inordinate number of DVDs and Blu-Rays are being released for you. You’ll never feel alone with a good movie to keep you company. Here is what’s opening in theaters this week, as well as DVD and Blu-Ray releases.

This Means War (PG-13) Two CIA operatives turn against each other when they fall for the same girl.

In Wide Release on February 17:

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (PG-13) The devil’s bounty hunter is back in action in a new sequel to the 2007 film.

The Secret World of Arrietty (G) A young boy makes friends with a small person living between the floorboards of his house.

In Limited Release:

All Things Fall Apart (R) [opens 2/14] 50 Cent stars as a college football player who goes on a journey to reunite with his family after his future NFL dreams are crushed.

Buzzkill (NR) (2011) [opens 2/14] A black comedy about a frustrated writer presented by The Second City.

The Forgotten Space (NR) [opens 2/15] A documentary that examines the effects of the global transport system, particularly maritime issues.

Michael (NR) (2011) [opens 2/15] A five-month chronicle of a man who has a young boy lock up in his basement.

Re:Generation Music Project (NR) [opens 2/16] A one-night-only premiere of this documentary about five DJ’s collaborating with other artists to make music.

On the Ice (R) [opens 2/17] Two teenage boys try to cover up the disappearance of another teen they went to club seals with.

Deep in the Heart (PG-13) [opens 2/17] A bio-pic about the man who became the highest individual donor to the 4-H club.

Thin Ice (R) [opens 2/17] An insurance agent tries to con an old man out of his money.
