The week ahead: 'Breaking Dawn Part 2,' 'The Master,' 'The Sweeney' and more

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as vampire spouses in the last "Twilight" movie, Joaquin Phoenix as a man drawn into a cult-like religion, and Gerard Butler as a surf instructor are featured in three of the movies that premiere on demand from Feb. 25 to March 3, 2013. (Check with your cable or satellite provider for a lineup of on-demand channels on your system.)

February 25, 2013: "Inescapable" (Three days after theatrical release) Rated TV-MA.

After fleeing Damascus under suspicious circumstances, Adib Abdel Kareem (played by Alexander Siddig) has built a perfect new life in Toronto. His world is turned upside down when his journalist daughter is kidnapped during a trip back to Syria. After 25 years of exile, Adib must now return on a frantic quest to rescue his daughter while confronting the past he left behind, including the love of his life (played by Marisa Tomei).

February 26, 2013: "The Master" (Same day as DVD) Rated R.

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, "The Master" is a drama about an alcoholic World War II veteran named Freddie Quell (played by Joaquin Phoenix), who is struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder. He gets caught up in a cult-like religious movement called The Cause, led by the charismatic Lancaster Dodd (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman), and The Cause also includes Lancaster's loyal wife Peggy (played by Amy Adams). Phoenix, Hoffman and Adams all received Oscar nominations for their roles in "The Master."

February 26, 2013: "Chasing Mavericks" (Same day as DVD, weeks before Netflix and Redbox releases) Rated PG.

"Chasing Mavericks" is an inspirational true story of real-life surfing phenom Jay Moriarity (played by Jonny Weston). When 15-year-old Jay discovers that the mythic Mavericks surf break, one of the biggest waves on Earth, is not only real, but exists just miles from his Santa Cruz home, he enlists the help of local legend Frosty Hesson (played by Gerard Butler) to train him to survive it.

February 26, 2013: "Chicken With Plums" (Same day as DVD) Rated PG-13.

In 1958 Teheran, Nasser Ali Khan (played by Mathieu Amalric), one of the most renowned musicians of his day, has lost all taste for life since his beloved violin was broken. Finding no instrument worthy of replacing it, he decides to confine himself to bed to await death. As he hopes for its arrival, he plunges into deep reveries, with dreams as melancholic as they are joyous, taking him back to his youth and even to a conversation with Azraël , the Angel of Death, who reveals the future of his children.

February 26, 2013: "Funeral Kings" (Same day as DVD) Rated R.

Alex Maizus and Dylan Hartigan star in this coming-of-age story about two students named Andy and Charlie, who attend at St. Mark's Middle School in Rhode Island. Andy and Charlie, who are altar boys, get to leave school early to attend funerals, but then they skip school for the rest of the day as soon as the service is over. The boys get into trouble when they unlock a trunk that they were warned not to open.

February 26, 2013: "Holy Motors" Rated TV-MA.

In this French-language movie, Denis Lavant plays Monsieur Oscar who, over the course of a single day, takes on 10 other guises, ranging from a gangster and aging millionaire to a troubled parent and anarchic tramp. Eva Mendes and Kylie Minogue are also part of the movie's cast.

February 26, 2013: "War Witch" (Before theatrical release) Rated PG-13.

In the drama "War Witch" (which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign-Language Film), Komona (played by Rachel Mwanza) is a young girl whose life is anything but normal. Kidnapped by African rebels at the age of 12, Komona was forced at gunpoint to slaughter her own parents and fight in the jungles as a child soldier against the government. Due to her ability to see gray ghosts in the trees that warn her of approaching enemies, she was deemed a sorceress and bestowed the title of War Witch by the supreme leader of the rebels, Great Tiger.

February 26, 2013: "Beware of Mr. Baker"

This documentary is about drummer Ginger Baker, who is best known for being in Cream, a 1960s "supergroup" trio that included Eric Clapton. The movie includes commentary from Baker, Clapton, Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Charlie Watts (the Rolling Stones), John Lydon (the Sex Pistols) and Stewart Copeland (the Police).

February 28, 2013: "The Brass Teapot" (Before theatrical release) Rated R.

In this dark comedy, married couple John and Alice (played by Michael Angarano and Juno Temple) live in small-town America, are very much in love, and are broke. An accident leads them to a roadside antique shop where Alice is spontaneously drawn to a mysterious brass teapot. It isn’t long before they realize that this is no ordinary teapot and that perhaps they have found the answer to all of their financial woes.

February 28, 2013: "Family Weekend" (Before theatrical release)

"Family Weekend" follows 16-year-old Emily Smith-Dungy (played by Olesya Rulin), an incredibly motivated overachiever, who has grown increasingly frustrated by lack of support and guidance from her parents (played by Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Modine). When her parents miss their daughter’s big jump-roping competition, Emily hits her breaking point and takes it upon herself to restore order in the home.

March 1, 2013: "A Place at the Table" (Same day as theatrical release) Rated PG.

This documentary tells stories of American families who live barely above the poverty line and are constantly struggling to have enough money to buy food. The film shows how obesity is a problem in many of these families because junk food is cheaper than nutritious food. "A Place at the Table" (which was originally titled "Finding North") also makes comparisons between how privately funded charities and government assistance have effects on hunger in America.

March 1, 2013: "6 Souls" (Same day as theatrical release) Rated R.

Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers star in this horror thriller about a widowed doctor named Cara Harding (played by Moore), who has a patient named Adam (played by Rhys Meyers) with multiple personalities. Cara finds out that Adam’s other personalities are murder victims, and she discovers that she and her family may be in danger. "6 Souls" was released in other countries in 2010 under a different title: "Shelter."

March 1, 2013: "The Sweeney" (Same day as theatrical release) Rated R.

"The Sweeney" is a British action film that is based on the 1970s television series of the same name. Ray Winstone, Ben Drew (aka Plan B) and Hayley Atwell star as members of an elite police unit called The Sweeney. Damian Lewis co-stars as the unit's supervisor.

March 2, 2013: "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" (Same day as DVD) Rated PG-13.

In the final chapter of the "Twilight Saga" movies, vampire married couple Bella and Edward Cullen (played by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson) are adjusting to life as new parents. The birth of Bella and Edward’s daughter Renesmee (played by Blanca Estella Gomez) brings conflict between Bella and her lifelong werewolf friend Jacob (played by Taylor Lautner) and an all-out war between the Cullens and the Volturi vampires.
