The Week Ahead: Baltimore Writing Education: September 16-22
Several Baltimore area writers groups are meeting this week. Please check the individual websites for membership details.
September 18, 6:30 p.m. – The Annapolis Chapter of the Maryland Writers’ Association will hold their monthly meeting at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts . Sarah Pinsker is the guest speaker. Her topic is "What Being a Touring Musician Taught Me about Writing and Selling Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Literary Fiction." Ms. Pinsker is a musician, author and songwriter.
September 19, 6:30 p.m. – The Maryland Romance Writers meet at the Arbutus Branch of the Baltimore County Public Library. Joya Fields will share her experience at the Writers’ Police Academy. Ms. Fields is a multi-published award winning author from Maryland.
September 19, 7:00 p.m. – The Howard County Chapter of Maryland Writers’ Association also meets this week. Novelist Maria V. Snyder will discuss story basics. Check the chapter’s website for their book drive.

September 27-29 – The Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts brings the 2013 Baltimore Book Festival to life. Three days of readings, signings and other book-related activities for all ages. Participating writers groups include the Maryland Romance Writers, Maryland Writers’ Association, Science Fiction Writers of America and many others. Programming also includes live music on stage and costumed characters roaming the streets.
After an absence in 2012, the Baltimore Writers Conference returns November 16 with a full schedule. More details will be included in future articles. Registration info is now posted on their website. Early-bird registration ends November 1.
