August 20, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. – The Ivy Bookshop presents Martha and Ken Grimes. The mother/son pair Double Double: A Dual Memoir of Alcoholism. Martha Grimes is the author of numerous mystery novels. RSVP on the store’s website. This event is free.
August 21, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – The Annapolis Chapter of the Maryland Writers’ Association The meeting is held at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. YA fantasy author Vonnie Crist is the guest speaker. See their website for more details. Chapter meetings are open to the public and are free to MWA members and first-time guests. August 22, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – The Maryland Writers’ Association, St. Mary's County chapter holds their monthly meeting. How to Create a Winning Author Bio is the evening’s topic. The speaker is Carolee Noury. Chapter meetings are open to the public and are free to MWA members and first-time guests. Returning non-members will be asked to pay $5. August 24, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. – National best-selling Historical fiction author Kate Quinn is tonight’s guest at The Ivy Bookshop. She’ll be reading from her novel The Serpent and The Pearl. RSVP on the store’s website. This event is free.

September 13-15 – Registration is open for the Creatures, Crimes & Creativity Literary Conference. The event will be held at the Hunt Valley Inn. Writers, readers, agents and editors will find many sessions to choose from during the three days. Full details are available on the conference website. Full conference cost: $275. Registration is available for single days. Discounts are available for some writers groups.
