The week ahead: A plan to nullify obamacare in Oklahoma

Many citizens of Oklahoma believed that they were stopping Obamacare when they voted in favor of State Question 756 in November 2010. The legislation that was passed in Oklahoma to codify Question 756 only nullified the individual mandate. It did not prevent the federal government from penalizing Oklahomans if they do not comply with the law. On Friday, December 13th a meeting will be held to begin working a plan to remove the teeth from the law.

The date was originally December 6th; but due to concerns about the weather, the meeting has been pushed back a week.

Charles Key, a few grassroots leaders, and several state legislators have been discussing how the sting can be taken out of Obamacare in Oklahoma. Some legislators are currently researching how the state can hold back funds they would otherwise have paid the federal government and use those funds instead to reimburse citizens who will pay the Obamacare penalty. The state has other options as well such as stopping the IRS from putting leans on property. Such actions would be very popular with Oklahomans, and the state would be defending the poor from an over reaching federal government. It would cripple the individual mandate within Obamacare. Since key elected officials are up for reelection this coming year, it makes for the “perfect storm.”

Leaders of liberty minded groups or their representative are invited to lunch on Friday, Dec 13th. Charles Key, Steve Dickson, and Bob Donohoo will present a plan for how we can build support for this legislative effort by having a rally in a dozen cities around Oklahoma during January culminating in a final working rally at the state capitol on the first Tuesday of the legislative session, Feb 4th. We can use the voting record of this legislation during the primary season and with the increased public awareness we may pursue a petition initiative drive this coming summer.

Lunch will be provided by Old Surety Life Insurance Company at their location:

Friday, December 13th, noon
Old Surety Life Insurance Company
5201 North Lincoln Boulevard
Oklahoma City, OK 73105-1804

Please RSVP so they can plan how much food to prepare.
