The Week Ahead 3-12-13

Hello everyone and welcome to my weekly “The Week Ahead” article. Each week I'll be posting the details of the up coming big Magic the Gathering events here in Maine and on MTGO for the upcoming weekend and the next.

All the action is down state the next two weekends. Really makes me wish I didn't leave on this end of I-95. So let's look at this weekend. Seems we got a GPT and two Maine 5K events going on.

Saturday, March 16th

At noon, Game On Cafe is host to the Road to the Maine 5K Qualifier. This format is Standard with a $25 entry fee. Cash prizes to be based upon the attendance. Winner earns a bye for the 5K at Maine Game Con on November 1.

Sunday, March 17th

Game On Cafe's other event this weekend is their trial for Grand Prix Pittsburgh. Starting at noon this event has a $15 entry fee and a Cash prize for 1st place. Other pack prizes will be based upon attendance. If you played in the R2TM5K Qualifier the day before you get a $5 discount on you entry into this event.

Didn't get you bye for the Maine 5k on Saturday? Head over to J&R Cards in Brunswick. Doors open at 10am and play starts at 12 noon. Cash prize for 1st place with packs for 2nd to 8th based upon attendance so bring a friend a grow the prize pool. Cost is $16.

Like I said, this seems to be a lot of action down state. Crossroad Games in Standish has the three events that is enough for you to want to book a hotel room.

Saturday, March 23rd

Double header. Starting at 11am is the TCGPlayer Gold Standard 1K. The event is standard with a cash payout to the top eight players minimum. And all the top sixteen get playmats. Entry fee is $25. This event will also have draft, standard, legacy, modern, and commander side events. Also that same day starting at 3PM is the Grand Prix Trial for Portland. $25 entry fee. $250 cash to 1st place and at least one box split between 2nd and 8th places.

Sunday, March 24

If you are still not sick of Magic, like you get sick of this game, and you're still in Standish at 11AM their will be a Road to the Maine 5K trial. Again it's standard with an entry fee of $15. First place gets $100 and 2nd to 8th place split at least a box with more packs based upon the number of players.

Well, that's all for this week. This has been...
