Going to the chapel or a royal pain?
Will the streets of San Francisco be reminiscent of a ghost town, like Laredo, as scores of parties and marathon TV wedding-watching soirees take place Friday? Evites are flying as those who love fairytale weddings, jolly old England, Prince Charming, and all-things-royal-wedding gather to watch the Royals: Kate and William.
What to wear?
The Royal invitation stipulates, “Uniform morning coat or lounge suit.” The wee hours of the morning start time (between 1 AM and o’dark-thirty) suggests a rendition of peignoirs and pea coats. Avoid arriving at predawn wedding parties in Jeggings, Crocs, Uggs, and granny gowns.
Hats, it is all about hats
The esteemed Berkeley Hats is the go-to place for a mammoth selection of elegant hats: choose a chapeau, bowlers, beret, a derby or top hat. Women know that the modus operandi is: the bigger the better. Note: save your fancy hat for the upcoming Kentucky Derby parties in May.
Let them eat cake?
A quick glance at a number of party invites indicates menus all involve scones and tea. People in the know, have pre-ordered special boxes of sweets from famed Irish baker,John Campbell. Baker and Banker, renown for cakes, cupcakes,and breakfast decadence is another sweet source for wedding fare. Tea? Anything From Lipton’s to English Breakfast Tea should fit parameters of etiquette and taste.
Timing
English law actually weighs in on Royal wedding timing. Law indicates the Royal Wedding will take place at 11AM in the UK. For captivated Californians, that’s 3 AM PacificTime.
Bubbles? A champagne breakfast will take place at Buckingham Palace after the 11 AM nuptials. Later in the day, a dinner party and dancing. For some local viewers, it could be time for a slumber party.
The esteemed Yoga Babes, long time members of San Francisco’s the Mindful Body have been planning various party ideas for the event including theme two parties: high tea and tea and sympathy. They agree the BBC is the channel to TIVO to see “the dress” and watch Kate and William tie the knot - with millions of other viewers.
Long live Princess Katherine and Prince William, forever launched into the media stratosphere. Cheers.
