The Weather Channel’s storm chaser killed in car accident

Andy Gabrielson, Oklahoma City, was killed yesterday in a head-on collision near Supulpa. He worked on The Weather Channel’s “Tornado Hunt.” A total of three cars were involved in the car accident, one other person was killed and two were taken to hospital. Oklahoma Highway Patrol believe that alcohol was the car of this deadly accident.

Gabrielson had been chasing storms in the Dallas area and was on his way home when the accident occurred. Another television station had rode along with him on that storm hunt and did a story about him and his passion for storm chasing.

Mike Bettes, another storm chaser from The Weather Channel’s “Storm Hunt” said that that Gabrielson was a “new breed of storm chaser…He inspired an entire generation of chasers…”
