Having gone undefeated with a 9-0 record, the Westchester Community College (WCC) women's basketball team, the Lady Westcos end the 2011 calendar year and enter the holiday season well-placed within the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) national rankings. Competing within the Division III category and situated in the NJCAA's Mid Hudson Conference, the Lady Westcos have moved up to 7th place within the NJCAA's National Poll with their most recent home court win over visiting Orange County Community College.
The WCC Lady Westcos have also placed six members into the NJCAA record book with Natalia Leonardo, Brittany Marbury, Neilia McKenzie, Sara Franco and Janejellica Johnson making the NJCAA's top 25 Field Goal Percentage shooters in the nation. Brittany Marbury sits second in the nation among all Division III players for 3-point field goal percentage, Karissa Core is currently ranked 17th in nation in free-throw percentage andJessica Negron is 14th nationally in assists and 7th in steals.
The Lady Westcos are back in action for the Lady Kats Tournament in Buffalo NY, December 28 - 30, and return to Westchester Community College for a home game on January 17th after nearly a full month on the road.
