The WBA forces Gennady Golovkin to knockout Australian Jarrod Fletcher

The WBA on Friday ordered middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin to jumpstart negotiations to battle Australian Jarrod Fletcher.

Largely because Julio Cesar Chavez lacks testicular fortitude, the 32-year-old Golovkin (29-0, 26 KOs) has 30 days to reach an agreement with the 30-year-old Fletcher (16-1, 10 KOs) or the WBA will call a purse bid.

Meeting at 168 pounds, the 5-foot-11 Golovkin was tentatively scheduled to face the 6-foot-1 Chavez (48-1-1-1, 32 KOs) on July 19 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Quite pathetically, Chavez ultimately cowered and refused to throw fists with Golovkin for boatloads of cash.

GGG last vacated the squared circle on February 1 after successfully defending the WBA and IBO middleweight belts versus an overwhelmed Osumanu Adama.

Golovkin, who has now recorded 16 consecutive knockouts, floored the 33-year-old Adama (22-4, 16 KOs) in the first and sixth rounds.

Sensing a beaten man, the powerful Russian mercilessly stalked Adama and again bullied the challenger to the canvas with a savage hook in the seventh frame.

Referee Louis Pabon compassionately halted the lopsided beating at 1:20 of the decisive round.

A punishing, ferocious and accurate slugger, Golovkin has never been toppled in over 375 contests.

Conversely, Fletcher has won six straight matches since getting knocked onto Queer Street by Billy Joe Saunders in September 2012.

Fletcher, who captured gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, most recently exited the ring on February 1 as a unanimous decision victor over Max Bursak.

Although somewhat skilled, Fletcher reeks of inexperience and has zero chance to compete with the bruising Golovkin.

Accordingly, expect Gennady Golovkin to brutalize Jarrod Fletcher into submission within 24 minutes later this summer.
