The 'Warcraft' movie gets Duncan Jones as a director (Video)

Attention Warcraft players! The popular massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) will soon be heading to the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Wednesday, Jan. 30 that filmmaker Duncan Jones has been chosen to direct the live-action project which has been scheduled for theatrical release in 2015. Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures are backing the film and filming is expected to begin in late 2013.

Warcraft was created by Blizzard Entertainment and four main games have been released in the video game franchise. These games are Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and World of Warcraft. Several expansions have been released for the games as well.

Jones most recently directed the psychological thriller Source Code (2011) which starred Jake Gyllenhaal, and the science fiction drama Moon (2009) with Sam Rockwell. The budget for Warcraft is expected to be near $100 million and a script by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond) has already been completed.
