The War, Hagler-Hearns

Definitely the fight of the decade in the 80's. A top 10 fight of all time by many estimations. And round one is arguably one of the best rounds ever to be produced in the sport of boxing.

Simply known as The War, the super fight between middleweights Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Thomas "The Hit Man" Hearns, is a hands down classic. If you grew up in the 80's, a decade of many great fights, this is the fight of fights.

Held at one of the greatest venues for boxing in the 80's, Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, The War ended as Hearns had predicted, a third round knockout. However, he was not the victor. Instead, it was undisputed middleweight champion, Hagler, retaining his belts.

Watch the video above to see for yourself. This is a boxing classic. A great fight to commemorate boxing in the month of April. The War originally took place on April 15, 1985. Ironically, the end of tax season, as this was a very taxing fight for both boxers although it was only three rounds.
