The war against 'bless you' in our schools

I can't sneeze without startling a room full of people. I tried to sneeze the way other people can where it's just a brief sound with their nose and my face almost blew up. Anyway I do appreciate the custom of 'God bless you' or 'bless you' after the sneeze. What a nice little touch we have in our culture.

But now 'Bless you' is becoming the new social apostasy, or a politically incorrect violation. Lllllliberalllllism is on the march again and have discovered that the custom of offering 'bless you' is the new 'Redskins'. Why? Oh who the heck knows why but we have a pretty good idea, don't we?

CBS reports that a college physics professor set some rules:

According to the #6 under the “Behavioral Deduction” section of the syllabus, students’ grades will be lowered for: “Saying ‘bless you.’ We are taught that it is polite to say ‘bless you’ when someone sneezes. However, if you say this while I am talking, it is NOT polite, it is very rude!”

Gardener states that a student may be deducted up to 15 percent of their final grade for any student that disrupts his class. He goes on to say in the syllabus that saying “bless you” may result in an immediate 1 percent grade deduction for each occurrence.

He's explicit in that saying 'bless you' is disruptive, and to Gardener, this goes against everything we know about science and probably "unconstitutional" the way Santa Claus is "unconstitutional". Can you believe these people? Will someone discover a hobby for liberals for goodness sake.

A similar situation occurred in a high school when a student was suspended. ABC news reports:

A young girl, who claims she was standing up for her religious beliefs in the classroom, was suspended after breaking a class rule of saying “bless you” after a classmate sneezed.

When Dyer County High School senior Kendra Turner said bless you to her classmate, she says her teacher told her that was for church.

“She said that we’re not going to have godly speaking in her class and that’s when I said we have a Constitutional right,” said Turner.

Turner said when she defended her actions, she was told to see an administrator. She said she finished the class period in in-school suspension.
Students snapped a photo of the teacher’s white board that lists ‘bless you’ and other expressions that are banned as part of class rules.

If Kendra decided to show up to school as a jhiadist gay male with a Stalin tee-shirt she would be the darling of the faculty while the other students would be required to attend tolerance class. But when Kendra says 'bless you', oh no, no no no. This is harmful to the ears now. The sneeze is fine, no problem, even if it were me. No disruption there. But if we enter into the 'bless you' terrain, even if the person doesn't actually mean they should be blessed, the thought of it is an outrage.
