On Aug. 23, the hugely popular boy band, The Wanted, took center stage in Central Park for GMA’s Summer Concert Series. Dressed in all black and trying to talk over thousands of piercing screams from the packed crowd, the members spoke to Lara Spencer and Josh Elliott about their new album and life on the road.
The Wanted’s new album “Word of Mouth” releases next month in the U.S. When asked what fans can expect, Max George replied, “I think it’s definitely a party album. It gets you going in the morning. It gets you going at night.” Siva Kaneswaren added that it is their best album to date. He also said they sing about personal experiences on it. The “Good Morning America” hosts also asked the band about life on the road with Carly Rae Jepsen. Jay McGuiness stated, “It’s a lot of fun. We love to meet as many fans as possible.” Tom Parker praised Carly Rae and her professional crew and added, “We’ve been so lucky."
After talking to “GMA,” The Wanted proceeded to rock the park with three songs. They opened with “I’m Glad You Came.” Their second song, “I Found You” was the one most voted on by “GMA” viewers and fans earlier this week. The boy band also played “We Own The Night, ” which Nathan Sykes told “Billboard” sets the whole mood for "Word of Mouth.” The guys closed their set with “All Time Low,” their fourth and final song.
Before, during and after The Wanted’s appearance, fans lit up social media like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Below are a few Twitter posts from Friday morning.

In 2012, Jay McGuiness, Nathan Sykes, Siva Kaneswaren, Max George and Tom Parker shot to international fame after releasing their first single “Glad You Came” from their second studio album “Battleground.” It sold more than three million copies in the United States alone. The Wanted’s follow-up singles “Chasing the Sun” and “I Found You” both hit No. 1 on Billboard’s hot dance club songs chart. Simon Vozick, senior editor of “Rolling Stone” told “GMA” viewers on Tuesday, “They have everything they need to be a successful boy band.”
“Word of Mouth,” The Wanted’s highly anticipated new album, releases next month, so the group’s appearance on “GMA” was a smart and timely move. “Own the Night” is already topping the charts, leaving young fans wanting more of The Wanted. According to MTV, “Word of Mouth” drops nationwide on Sept. 17.
