"The Walking Dead" season 4 is currently on a mid-season break, but that doesn't mean that fans have stopped looking for information about the characters. Not only are there spoilers and speculations for the current season, but a few tidbits about season 5 are already being revealed. On Dec. 14, Carter Matt revealed a few characters that will definitely be making it to the next season.

Most fans already know that three characters from the comic books will be introduced into the television series in the second half of season 4: Sgt. Abraham Ford, Rosita Espinosa and Dr. Eugene Porter. Wet Paint wrote earlier this month that they are "dynamic" and "explosive" characters that will be breathing new life into "The Walking Dead." While a lot of spoilers do come out, who makes it and who dies from season to season is always hidden, at least until fans figure it out, so it's pretty unusual that they would state who is sticking around. It turns out that two of the three new characters will be alive by the season 4 finale. Showrunner Scott Gimple spoke to Vulture about the characters of Eugene and Abraham,
“We get to know them a little bit. They affect the characters’ stories a great deal, but we’re not going to get into their stories in a deep way until next season.”
In other news for "The Walking Dead," fans will get to know more about what happened to Michonne before Rick and the group met her via flashback according to Wet Paint. It is highly likely that the show will reveal that she lost a child, which would account for her reaction when Beth made her hold baby Judith. A previous spoiler revealed that there were babies on set during season 4B filming, indicating that baby Judith is in fact alive. If anyone would be able to keep the baby alive, it would be Michonne and if she has the baby, then it would make sense that her maternal instinct would kick in and protect Judy at all costs.
There is also the question of Hershel's daughters. Hershel was decapitated right in front of them and they went from witnessing that, to fighting the Governor's mini-Army and then had to flee when the prison was overtaken by walkers. In the second half of season 4, they might still haven't had time to grieve. Wet Paint posted about the possibility of Maggie and Beth blaming Rick for their father's murder and time will only tell if they do in fact, believe he is responsible.
What do you think will happen with the new characters when the show returns? Who do you think will make it to "The Walking Dead" season 5?
