On Sunday, March 23 Wetpaint Entertainment posted spoilers for "A," the upcoming sixteenth episode and season finale of the fourth season of "The Walking Dead," the AMC drama that follows groups of survivors searching for shelter in the aftermath of the prison attack. The official synopsis is listed below:
Many paths collide; Rick faces sheer brutality; the group struggles to survive.
After being separated since The Governor attacked the prison in the midseason finale, the synopsis hints that the split groups will finally arrive at the Terminus in the finale. The word Terminus also means the "end of the line," so its fitting that the groups reach at the safe zone in the final episode of the season. Glenn, Maggie, Bob, Sasha, and Tara find Terminus in the final moments of episode fifteen "Us."
After Beth has taken, Daryl encountered Joe and his group who insisted Daryl come along with them. In "Us," Daryl clashes with Len and has to adjust to the rules of the new group when he is accused of stealing. Joe and the rest of the men are tracking Rick, who they know was in the house they found in "Claimed," but escaped. The episode will have Rick and Joe face off with Daryl caught between his old group and the new one.
Norman Reedus recently revealed that the episode is "very ambitious" and "they went big with it," so fans can expect more drama and more death. The episode will also set up the events of season five, and the title reveals that the groups will finally get some answers. The Alexandria safe zone from the comics may have become the Terminus for the series, with the groups finding a new shelter and possibly a new enemy.
Comic book creator Robert Kirkman previously revealed that Negan will not be appearing in season 4, and executive producer Gale Anne Hurd teased that "a new evil" would be coming in the second half. The new evil could be The Hunters, a group of cannibalistic survivors and they could be the inhabitants of the Terminus.
Several new characters are expected to appear in the finale, including actor Andrew J. West who is believed to be playing a mix of comic book characters like Father Gabriel Stokes and The Hunters leader Chris. It's possible he is the one who abducted Beth from the road since his character will have a small but important role in at least one episode this season, but has yet to appear. Morgan (Lennie James) is credited to appear, but show runner Scott Gimple has denied this, so it could be a misdirect. Actress Anissa Matlock was cast of the finale, as a member of Terminus who encounters the prison survivors.
"A" wil air on Sunday, March 30 at 9 p.m. on AMC. The episode will wrap up the events of season four and set up season five. The fifth season will begin filming outside Atlanta in May and will debut a sixteen episode season in late October. Several characters are expected to become series regulars for next season and will characters will be introduced from the comic books.
