Fans may not be excited that The Walking Dead will go on hiatus for December and January, but show creator Robert Kirkman teases that they will be left with plenty to chew on until Season 2 resumes. On Tuesday, Screenrant.com shared some of the juiciest tidbits and The Walking Dead spoilers that Kirkman recently shared heading into the November 27 midseason finale (airing on channel 43 in Scottsdale).
Many fans of the show have felt frustrated by the pacing so far in Season 2. A handful of plot threads and little resolution has viewers wondering if their time investment will pay off some time soon, and show creator and producer Robert Kirkman promises it will be worth it. He won't share much about what will happen in the final two episodes before the midseason finale, but he says that the November 27 episode, "Pretty Much Dead Already" is going to be huge. "It is a bigger episode and there are some loose ends tied up, but I wouldn't want to say what just yet." He adds, "But I will say to keep an eye out for that episode, it's gonna be huge!"
The midseason finale of The Walking Dead closes off the first half of Season 2, but viewers will see another seven episodes air beginning February 12, 2012. Kirkman says that the writers were very thoughtful about how to break-up the plotting between the two halves of the season, and the second half is "jam-packed with absolutely crazy stuff." There are more characters coming onto the canvas, though Kirkman won't get specific about who else pops up at Hershel's farm. Who are they and where did they come from? Apparently Kirkman is content for now to let fans speculate and conspire about what they will see.
Many viewers are anxious to see Michonne enter the fray, though earlier it was anticipated she wouldn't appear until Season 3. Kirkman confirms she'll be showing up, though the timing isn't set yet. "She was introduced pretty early on in Vol. 4 of the comic books. Whether we'll move that up or have it happen at a later date, we haven't figured out." He adds, "But I will say that she's definitely going to be in the show eventually."
One thing viewers have learned already is that Kirkman is steering the TV version of The Walking Dead down his own path, veering from the hit comic book series as he sees fit. Shane's character is a key example at this point, and it seems there may be other adaptations yet to come. Tune in to Sunday night's show "Secrets," Episode 206, to see how everything gets set-up for the midseason finale. The Walking Dead airs on AMC, channel 43 on Cox in Scottsdale, at 10 p.m. Sunday nights.
