On Friday, February 14 Wetpaint Entertainment posted spoilers from an interview with "The Walking Dead" executive producer Gale Anne Hurd about what new dangers the survivors can expect to encounter during the second half of season four. The final eight episodes will bring new characters, new locations and new threats for all the survivors.
Hurd confirmed that the tenth episode, "Inmates" will introduce comic book characters Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) and Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos). They have a mission when they encounter Rick and the others which could influence everyone's future.
The prison group is now scattered and no one is safe anymore from death. The walkers are still a major threat and the survivors will encounter new people that are "just as evil as The Governor" in their new travels. One character named Gareth (Andrew J. West) has been cast and he could be a member of The Hunters from the comic books. It's possible that the survivors head to the safe zone after meeting the new characters and also have a run in with Gareth.
Hurd mentioned that the "new evil" will be in a different form so it's possible the new danger won't be a person. The evil introduced at the beginning of the fourth season was the flu, which killed several members of the prison and is still affecting Glenn. The comic book villain Negan is expected to appear on the series but not during the fourth season.
"Inmates" will air on Sunday, February 16 at 9 p.m. on AMC. The series has already been renewed for a fifth season which will begin filming in Atlanta in May. The sixteen episode series should begin airing in the fall.
