With a new illness sweeping through the prison on "The Walking Dead," it seems more characters are going to die earlier on in season four. On Wednesday, October 16 Wetpaint Entertainment broke the news that Baby Judith Grimes might perish this season and it might not be from walkers.
Every since Judith was born in season three, fans have been wondering how long the baby will live. Many of the episodes focused on supply runs to find food for the baby or figuring out who will take care of her while Rick mourns Lori's death. At least one major character will die this season and killing the baby would be an easy choice, plus the writer has expressed wanting that to happen.
However, now that the flulike illness is circulating there is a real possibility that Judith could be affected, since babies are at a higher risk for getting sick while their immune system develops. Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, hinted that the midseason finale will be "painful" and Judith could be a part of that pain.
Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) has mostly taken over caring for Judith since her birth, with help from Carol and Maggie. Carl has kept his distance while he deals with his own issues but he did name his sister. There is still the chance that a walker gets Judith, but anyone who dies from an illness becomes a walker too.
Former show runner Glenn Mazzara mentioned last season that killing Judith would be "too bleak" for the audience and they "would stopping watching," but not everyone can survive in the zombie apocalypse world. "The Waking Dead" airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on AMC. Tune in to see if Judith makes it through the season.
