On Thursday, January 23 SpoilerTV posted the official synopsis for the upcoming ninth episode of the fourth season of "The Walking Dead," which will return next month. The episode, which is entitled "After," will follow the prison survivors as they try to find a new safe place after the prison attack. The synopsis is listed below:
As Rick deals with old wounds, members of the prison have to come to terms with their new environment and ask themselves if survival alone is enough.
The synopsis hints that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) will struggle to deal with losing the safe haven of the prison and not knowing where everyone else is. The midseason finale also made it seem like Judith was dead after Rick and Carl (Chandler Riggs) found her bloody baby carrier. The herds of walkers are becoming even more dangerous and food and shelter have become major issues once again.
The episode was written by comic book creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman and directed by Greg Nicotero. Executive producers and actors from the series have revealed the episode will have a major focus on Carl Grimes. Several sneak peeks for the series have spoiled that Carl and Rick managed to find shelter in a house but Rick is in bad shape. Beth and Daryl are shown running from something and Glenn hasn't fully recovered from the deadly virus yet.
"The Walking Dead" will return with "After" on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. on AMC. The final eight episodes of season four will have a much different tone than the first half as well as introduce new characters and new locations from the comic books. The series has already been renewed for a fifth season which is expected to begin filming in May.
