You can always count on “The Walking Dead” production to cast new members quite frequently, especially at the start of a new season. After all, the kill rate is pretty high. On Monday, Deadline broke the news of a new cast member joining the world of “The Walking Dead” Season 5, Seth Gilliam.

According to the source, Gilliam has joined “The Walking Dead” as a new series regular. Deadline shares that Gilliam’s character is listed as Michael Todd, but the real name is being kept under wraps. This is something “The Walking Dead” production is known for, concealing the real names of characters to keep die-hard comic fans from knowing their identity and revealing spoilers.

Of course, this doesn’t stop comic fanatics. Folks over at Spoil The Dead already have a clue at who he might be playing. A short description of the character is that he is friendly, puckish humor but also having a haunted side stemming from a dark secret. “Michael is described as having two sides,” the source continues. This leads fans to believe that Gilliam will be Father Gabriel.

In the comics, Father Gabriel is friendly, but also haunted by a dark past. He is a preacher who comes across Rick and the other survivors after leaving his church, where he had been hiding since the start of the apocalypse. Sound familiar? Many fans believe that Beth is with him, that she was taken by Father Gabriel at the church when walkers attacked her and Daryl. Speculation has it that Gabriel did this in an attempt to help Beth. We sure hope this is true, that would be very cool.

Gilliam is currently recurring his role on “Teen Wolf,” and will continue doing so despite soon starring on “The Walking Dead.” Season 5 returns to AMC sometime this coming October.
