Fall is creeping ever closer and that means the premiere for “The Walking Dead” Season 5 is also creeping closer. That premiere now has a released title. According to Yahoo News on Aug. 31, the premiere of Season 5 of “The Walking Dead” is “No Sanctuary.”
“No Sanctuary” seems a fitting title, given all that we know and suspect about Terminus. Rick, Daryl and the rest of the crew hoped Terminus would be their safe haven. After ending up locked in train car “A”, they now know better.
We’re also going to meet Father Gabriel in Season 5. Seth Gilliam has been cast in the role of Gabriel Stokes, a character lifted from the comic book series.
Gilliam says he didn’t realize who he was auditioning for, according to Zap 2 It. The actor was given a side which described a high school guidance counselor in order to prepare for the audition. "I actually did not realize I was reading for the role of Father Gabriel during the casting process," Gilliam said. "The sides were for a school guidance counselor named Michael who had an issue with a couple of his students."
Producer Gale Anne Hurd offered him the role a week later and revealed then which character he’d be playing. Gilliam lost no time getting caught up on the show then. He still hasn’t gotten caught up on the comic books, however.
"I only read the comic book where Father Gabriel was introduced, which I think was episode 61 in the comics. I didn't read anything before that, and I haven't read anything after that," he says. "I discovered from reading about the show that often times characters' names and journeys are kind of crisscrossed and mismatched, so I thought if I did read too much I might be giving myself a lot of information that would be useless, or just outright wrong. So I figured, like with everything, I'd just take the script and try to fill him out the best I possibly can."
The premiere for AMC’s “The Walking Dead” Season 5 airs on Sunday, Oct. 12. We’ll keep you posted on new updates and spoilers.
