Tyreese (Chad Coleman) was devastated and full of rage over the murder of his girlfriend and made Rick (Andrew Lincoln) promise to find who did it so they could pay the price. While investigating, Rick asked Carol if she was the one who burned Karen and David alive and she admitted that she had. Her intentions were to contain the illness so nobody else would die, but it did no such thing. The sickness is still spreading and the prison residents are still dying.
Executive producer Robert Kirkman spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the possibility of consequences for Carol. He said,
“There's definitely going to be huge repercussions coming from that. I don't think Rick anticipated this danger that was inside the prison to be revealed to be someone they were so close with. It was always, 'Hey, we've brought in a lot of people; who knows who it could be.' But this is someone who's been one of them for a very long time, so the outcome of this is going to be something that none of them have been expecting and none of them could have prepared for. This is going to go in a pretty interesting direction.”
On a sneak peek of episode 4, Rick and Carol go in search of supplies and he doesn't seem to angry or even concerned about her. Is he going to tell Tyreese that it was her or will he keep her secret? After all, she is one of the original members of the group and she has gone through a lot. She was an abused wife and then her husband was attacked by a walker. Then her daughter, Sophia went missing and the group spent an entire season looking for her only to discover that she was in Hershel's barn. Unfortunately, she was a zombie and Rick had to shoot her in the head. Now she is stronger and more brave, but could she be losing her humanity?
