Viewers were shocked when Rick wouldn't let Carol come back to the prison with him. But will she continue to make an appearance on "The Walking Dead" season 4? Will fans ever see Melissa McBride on the zombie series again? On Nov. 4, Wet Paint discussed the subject and theories.

When Rick told Carol that she couldn't come back to the prison with him, she wanted to get Lizzie and Mika, but he wouldn't let her. Those two girls mean a lot to the former abused housewife and even though she wasn't happy when Lizzie accidentally called her "mom," she seemed to be a good choice as a surrogate parent. Her looking after the girls was also what she promised their father just before he died.
What is interesting is that Carol didn't argue with Rick or ask him to let her stay at the prison. She simply gassed up another vehicle and went on her way. But she did want to get the girls, so will she just accept that Rick will keep them apart or will she try to get them?
This is the question that The Hollywood Reporter asked actress Melissa McBride, who responded,
“I certainly hope so. She knows someone has to take care of them because that was [their father] Ryan's dying request. Her heart is broken, and I would hope she finds a way back, but I don't know. Plus she's got the crappy car! Rick took the good one!”
She also spoke about how she reacted to Rick talking about Sophia and being a surrogate mother to Lizzie and Mika,
“You have to depend on yourself, so there's a bit of that going on. As well, she doesn't want her to get used to the fact that whatever your idea of ‘mother’ is, you have to be there for yourself, too. She needs to be prepared to act alone. Carol also has that ‘I can't go there again; I can't take you into my heart.’ It's too painful after Sophia, and she can't go through that again. She knows she's the mother figure, but to call her mom is too much. Then when she and Rick get to the house, she says she has two daughters. That was really for Rick to understand that there are two little girls that Carol is protecting as her own, and they have to get back. Her objective is to get the stuff and get back and to reiterate why she did what she did in the first place: to protect the children and the group.”
It seems likely that Carol isn't going to let those girls go. She will either ask the Council to be let back in the prison or she will get the girls out so they can be together.
What are your thoughts on Carol possibly returning to the prison? Do you think this is the last viewers will see of Melissa McBride or will she be reappearing on future episodes of "The Walking Dead" season 4?
