"The Walking Dead" season 4 is off to a great start and a character was killed in the season premiere, just as fans were getting to know him. But he didn't die from walkers or an enemy, but from a mysterious virus that is also affecting the animals. On Oct. 15, Wet Paint revealed that a lot of new characters will be wiped out from the illness and it will put many fan favorites in grave danger.
Warning: If you do not want to know "The Walking Dead' season 4 spoilers, then stop reading.
Robert Kirkman has revealed that the illness will "quickly eliminate many of the newcomers we saw in the premiere." Not only that, but Greg Nicotero said that it could affect the characters that fans love the most, too. He said,
“At the end, when Patrick dies, you realize that this is not an isolated incident. [Rick’s] pig is dead, we see the walker at the fence … it’s a ticking time bomb. Now, all of a sudden, [the virus is] right in the middle of the prison.”
Greg also said that the whole scene with Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) licking his fingers, then shaking Patrick's hand was set up like that intentionally. First, Daryl licks his fingers, then shakes Patrick's hand and then Patrick (Vincent Martella) ends up dying quickly from some strange virus and turns into a walker, which nobody knows about yet. To make fans think that Norman Reedus might be killed off is shocking and just cruel. He has hardcore fans and they are probably starting to panic.
However, a previous spoiler revealed that Daryl was going to be in more of a leadership role this season, so it seems unlikely that they will kill him off anytime soon. But fans have not really heard any spoilers regarding the future of Tyreese (Chad Coleman,) Glenn (Steven Yeun) or Hershel (Scott Greene.) Baby Judith has also been rarely mentioned and because she is a baby, she is the most vulnerable to the mysterious virus.
What do you think will happen on the next episode of "The Walking Dead" season 4? Will any of the main characters end up dying from the mysterious virus? Will it be Daryl or do you predict someone else will be affected?
