'The Walking Dead' season 4: When will there be a new villain?

On the mid-season finale of "The Walking Dead," the Governor and Rick's group finally went to war. Even though the Governor was killed, some wouldn't say that the prison won since walkers took it over and everyone had to flee. They ended up going in different directions and since cell phones don't work in the zombie apocalypse, there is no way to say if they will ever see each other again. Now that their enemy, the Governor, is dead and gone, it only seems natural that another one will pop up. When will this happen and who could it be? On Dec. 20, Comic Book Resourses revealed some information about a potential villain.

Warning: If you do not want to know "The Walking Dead" season 4 spoilers, then stop reading.

With everyone separated, there is no reason to have an enemy come in to take the Governor's place. When the show returns in February fans will likely be spending some time getting to know the characters on a deeper level while upping the risk factor at the same time. There are no walls or gates to protect them now and they are in more danger since they are split up.

There were speculations that Negan, a villain from the comic books, may be appearing on season 4, but it turns out that is not the case. Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly,

“The plan is that we will see him eventually. But I definitely do think there needs to be some kind of space from a Governor into a Negan. You have to have something of a break in there. So I wouldn’t expect him to be showing up — definitely not in Season 4. I don’t know. I wouldn’t expect it too soon.”

Now the group is out in the world and will have to battle walkers, find food and seek shelter. Not only are they dealing with the loss of family and friends, but their home as well. Rick and Carl believe that baby Judith is dead, but spoilers have revealed that she is alive and that someone else from the group grabbed her before it was too late. Not having a villain right now doesn't mean that the story will lack drama, after all there are still the walkers to worry about.

Do you think Negan will be the next villain? Do you think he will appear on season 5 or will the writers come up with another evil character?
