The season 4 premiere of "The Walking Dead" revealed that there is a mystery virus and judging by the bloody eyes of both Patrick and the prison pig, Violet, they both contracted the illness. It kills its victims quickly... in the short amount of time it took him to leave the library and to go down to the showers, he died. While all viewers know that once humans die they turn into walkers unless they have a significant wound to the head, there have not been too many people discussing the possibility of animals getting it. On Oct. 16, "The Walking Dead" official Facebook page showed off a new poster that may answer that question.
The poster shows Violet the pig with one extremely bloody eye closed and swollen with a rotted look to it. The other eye had the same bright yellowish color that Patrick's did when he died in the shower on the season 4 premiere. The teeth of the pig are rotten and yellow as well as the entire area around the mouth rotted away. So does this mean that the infected animals will become "walkers?"
The only reason it is a question is because instead of using high tech special effects, they used the "Dead Yourself" app.
If the animals do turn into walkers, will they only have a taste for other animals or will they want to gnaw on humans? Since everyone is saying that season 4 of "The Walking Dead" will be crazy and that fans will have no idea what is to come, it seems that animals could begin to feast on the living. That would be one heck of a new threat... not only will it limit the available food but having to look out for animals as well as human walkers will make keeping alive more difficult.
But if that is the case, then why is it happening all of a sudden? Back at the CDC, Rick found out that everyone already has the zombie infection inside of them and it is somehow activated when they die, thus leading them to become walkers. This has not happened to any of the animals so far.
What do you think of the poster of Violet the pig? Is this just a "Dead Yourself" advertisement or are zombie animals one of the new threats on "The Walking Dead?"
