Beth hasn't been seen much so far in season 4. The most that viewers have seen of her is when she noticed Michonne having an emotional reaction to holding baby Judith and then her response to finding out that her boyfriend had died. Even though it doesn't seem like much, these could be clues on what is coming up next for Beth.
Beth seems older, tougher and has become numb. Living in the zombie apocalypse and losing so many people will do that to a girl. She has gotten used to everyone close to her dying and probably doesn't get close to any new people, that way it won't' hurt as much if they die.
As far as Emily Kinney's character hugging Daryl, there is nothing inappropriate going on there. By now the Greene's and Rick's group have been together for quite some time and they have bonded. The two characters seem to share similar traits and they probably have a connection because they understand each other.
Since the beginning, most of the characters of "The Walking Dead" have shown serious emotions when things happened. Rage, grief, joy and hope have all been a part of pretty much everyone. That is, everyone but Beth. She is the one character that fans don't know that much about even though she has been around awhile. Likely, later on this season she will go through some major emotions that will reveal her inner self, the part of her that nobody sees.
At "The Walking Dead" season 4 premiere party, Emily Kinney said that her character would be evolving.
What do you think will happen with Beth in "The Walking Dead" season 4?
