The AMC drama "The Walking Dead" doesn't return until October, but there will be some new changes. On Tuesday, August 20 Wetpaint Entertainment revealed that Michonne is getting a new mode of transportation in the new season: a horse. Several years after the zombie apocalypse, it seems the prison survivors have decided to use more primitive ways of accomplishing tasks now that necessities are scarce.
Michonne (Danai Gurira) is known for her intense attitude and skills with a katana, but now she will be mastering horseback riding as well. Most fans are aware that in season two Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) had an unfortunate encounter with a horse while searching for Sophia. Daryl took the horse from Herschel's stable and was later thrown down a hill and sustained significant injuries.
Gurira learned to ride horses for the upcoming season and thinks that riding a horse is a sensibly choice for Michonne. On a horse she can ride through the woods to help hunt or find a way around obstacles easier. She calls horses more "useful" and "a very freeing experience." Horses are also sustainable and can mostly look after themselves for food. According to sources, the name of the horse is Flame.
"The Walking Dead" returns to AMC on Sunday, October 13 at 9 p.m. The sixteen episode season will include more walker deaths, new threats from other humans or otherwise, new characters from Woodbury, and a lot more character development.
