Only a little over a week to go, walker-fanatics, and “The Walking Dead” will return to TV with Season 4. The first couple of episodes have already been revealed to lucky TV show critics, and some have gone ahead and posted their reviews. On Friday, October 4, an inside source revealed to Examiner some spoiler snippets of information on what’s to come in “The Walking Dead” Season 4.
According to our source, Rick will be emerging from the prison looking very calm and relaxed. He walks over to the prison yard and tends to some crops; it is assumed that this is now his everyday duty and routine. It’s a picture perfect farm-ish setting, if it weren’t for a handful of walkers at the fence trying to force their way in. Rick no longer carries a gun with him or participates in getting rid of walkers.
The prison and survivors are at their best. There are enough crops, livestock, water supply, plenty of people to each do their part – it’s as good as an attempt of maintaining a community can be. However, the fence with hungry walkers is put into focus in many scenes, to remind the audience that the prison’s newfound peace and safety can crumble down at any moment. Rick’s peaceful scene is followed by an action sequence, kicking the Season 4 debut into high gear.
Our source also reveals that Daryl is now the main leader, and it’s not a role that he finds easy. Daryl is part of ‘the council,’ a group of survivors that gather to vote and decide on changes and decisions for the prison. This group also consists of Carol, Sasha, Glenn, and Hershel. The council members all want Rick to return as the leader, but he refuses. Rick is doing a lot better and is no longer crazy, but just like the prison’s fence, fans are warned that his sanity may not last forever.
Carl has also gone through changes, he didn’t have much of a choice though. He helps his dad with the crops and has had his gun taken away. While Carl understands why this had to be done, like any young teen, he still fusses about it at times. Due to a threat in episode two, Carl is left with no choice but to use a gun. After seeing that Carl handled the situation responsibly, Rick returns the gun to him.
Several new faces are introduced, but not too many at a time that it will be hard to keep up with. Lastly, the source spoils that the new threat will be introduced, but not fully, leaving enough suspense for the next episode. Enough is revealed though to know that there are at least two new threats: a natural one most likely caused by the water or food supply, and a traitor among the group.
As previously spoiled, The Governor won’t be making an appearance in the first two episodes – no one at the prison will even mention him.
“The Walking Dead” Season 4, Episode 1 “30 Days Without An Accident,” premieres on Sunday, October 13 on AMC.
