'The Walking Dead' season 4 spoilers: Andrew J. West cast as Gareth

There are only four more episodes left on the fourth season on "The Walking Dead," but more and more new characters keeping showing up each episode. On Saturday, March 8 Wetpaint Entertainment posted spoilers that actor Andrew J. West has been cast as the character Gareth and revealed the origins of the character.

The television series is based on the comic books by Robert Kirkman, but the series does not follow the storyline of the comics exactly. Daryl Dixon, played by actor Norman Reedus, was never in the comics but was added to as a major character due to fan popularity. Gareth is not based on just one character from the comics.

Show runner Scott Gimple revealed that Gareth is "an invention that was created for the show." Gareth is a new character that will have a guest starring but important role in season four, with the option to be a series regular in season five. It's possible he could be connected to the Alexandria safe zone that Rosita, Abraham, and Eugene were heading towards or he could be connected to the Hunters. The most likely scenario is that Gareth is connected to the Terminus, which most of the surviving groups have seen the signs for.

West is known for playing the character of Fisher on the ABC Family drama "Greek" for two seasons and Max from "Privileged." He is scheduled to appear in several movies released in 2014 including "Nightmare Code," "Bipolar" and "Walter."

The thirteenth episode of the fourth season, "Alone," will air on Sunday, March 9 at 9 p.m. on AMC. The final four episodes will include new characters encountering the prison survivors, groups splitting up, everyone finding the Terminus signs, and character deaths.
