“The Walking Dead” started a mystery online when they released their season 4 trailer earlier this summer. It seems that “The Walking Dead” mystery has to do with Hershel, who appears to be one of the two-legged walking living now. Did he grow his leg back? According to Comic Book.com on Sept. 14, the confusion about Hershel’s leg reappearing in the trailer now has an explanation.
It’s not that “The Walking Dead” offered up a written or verbal explanation for Hershel’s reappearing leg, they did it in a subtle way. Folk’s at home were wondering if Hershel, who is a veterinarian by trade, figured out some way to grow a leg back. That’s not too farfetched considering they now live in a world where the dead come back to life and walk the land as zombies.
Others wondered if somehow Hershel got his hands on a prosthetic leg in a world that no longer offers the luxury of medical care or shopping. You can’t even get gas for your vehicle, so how did Hershel score a new leg?
“The Walking Dead” offered up an explanation of what Hershel has under his pant leg giving him the appearance of being a two-legged man once again. Hershel does in fact have a prosthetic leg, as the latest picture ( to the left of this article) shows him kneeling with his pant leg up and the metal of the prosthesis leg is exposed.
After all the scuttlebutt online about Hershel’s new leg, “The Walking Dead” subtlety solves the confusion with a picture. You know what they say, “a picture’s worth a thousand words,” and that saying rings true in this case.
It looks like fans of “The Walking Dead” will have to wait for season 4 to find out how Hershel acquired his new leg. It could be that Daryl found one in his travels looking for supplies or better yet, maybe they knocked off a walker who just happened to have a prosthesis leg that would fit Hershel.
The premiere to “The Walking Dead” season 4 airs Sunday October, 13 on AMC.
