Fans were shocked when Carol admitted to Rick that she was the one who set Karen and David on fire on "The Walking Dead" season 4, episode 3. However, some fans have difficulty believing that it could really be her. Even though she has toughened up considerably since the first season, it does seem out of character for her to murder innocent people. On Oct. 29, Wet Paint discussed whether it is possible that Carol is really covering for Lizzie.
It seems unlikely that Carol (Melissa McBride) is covering up for troubled Lizzie. First, Robert Kirkman discussed the episode and said that it was Carol's decision. Other articles have revealed that she burned the bodies to prevent the virus from spreading, but her actions didn't help. The virus rages on and now Glenn (Steven Yeun) is showing symptoms as well as Sasha.
During "The Walking Dead" season 4, episode 3, Tyreese (Chad Coleman) asked Carol to check in on his sister and she agreed. She seemed to look guilty, but would she really feel all that much remorse if she was just covering up for somebody?
Fans that think that she is covering for the girl reason that Rick found a small handprint on the door. Also, when Lizzie and her sister, Mika's father died, he asked Carol to look after them like they were her own. But she really doesn't seem all that close to the girls, so it is doubtful that she would cover for either of them. It might be a different story if it were a child she had grown attached to, but it doesn't seem like her and Lizzie really know each other that well. It is true that Carol thinks that Lizzie is weak and Mika says that her sister is messed up, but how would she kill both David and Karen and be able to drag their bodies on fire? Lizzie is a girl, not an adult and she doesn't seem to be physically strong enough to do something like that. Fans also need to take in account that Sasha is a tough cookie. Even thought she was sick, Sasha wouldn't let a young girl overpower her.
What do you think of the theory that Carol is really covering up for Lizzie? What do you think will happen as this story progresses in "The Walking Dead" season 4?
