On "The Walking Dead" season 4 premiere, a lot happened including Carl's improved relationship with Rick, Beth having a boyfriend, who ended up dying and a roof holding walkers and a helicopter came crashing in as the group was on a supply run. When Daryl had to deliver the news to Beth that her boyfriend was dead, she embraced him. But did she hug him a bit longer than what would be considered "friendly?" On Oct. 14, Wet Paint reveals some spoilers revolving around Daryl and Beth.

On the "Talking Dead" episode that aired last night, Chris Hardwick asked Scott Gimple about the scene with Daryl and Beth hugging and how it seemed like she embraced him for a second too long. The showrunner replied,
"I will just say — and I'm not even entertaining that — but I'm saying that scene and what she laid out in that scene, her emotional reaction to that and Daryl's reaction to her reaction is one of those things that will play out throughout the season."
Scott also told The Hollywood Reporter that Daryl and Beth "have chemistry and share an approach to dealing with this world." He also said that the scene was there for a reason. That sounds like it will be something that will be played out throughout the season.
While some fans are thinking that the two may have a relationship, it likely won't be a romantic one. Beth has become a bit harder and doesn't cry when people die anymore. She simply moves on, which is similar to how Daryl views things. Most likely, they will have a friendship and they will have a connection because she is becoming a bit more like him. Hanging around Daryl and living in the zombie apocalypse will do that to a person. There are only so many tears that can be shed. After losing so many people, the characters need to learn how to detach themselves a bit and Beth embracing Daryl was probably shown so viewers would understand that they have more of a connection or bond then they used to (even though Daryl seemed surprised and a tad uncomfortable by the hug.)
