It seems that there are not just going to be danger outside of the prison, but inside of it, too. With the Woodbury residents now part of the prison community, there are going to be good people as well as bad. Not only do they have the Governor to worry about, walkers are going to find their way inside and someone has been leading a trail for the walkers to get to the prison gates. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is also going to cross paths with someone who has a long list of bad deeds, all in the name of survival of course. Fans shouldn't forget that one of the first spoilers to come out, which happened right after season 3 wrapped up was that someone was going to betray Rick. Could it be Carl, who had so much bitterness and hatred in the previous season? Or could it be part of his group or perhaps it is someone viewers haven't met yet.
Rick is going to step down as leader. The most logical choice to take his place would be Daryl (Norman Reedus,) but in the comic books Tyreese (Chad Coleman) was his right hand man, so that could also be a possibility. Rick has stepped down to focus on his family, primarily Carl (Chandler Riggs.)
Showrunner Scott Gimple says,
"The theme for this season is, 'Are we too far gone?' Can we go back to the people we were? Can we enjoy life, have close relationships, and can we even love anymore?' Even though they've found some kind of stability, they have a lot of challenges."
Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd explained the threats,
"There are threats from within and without, all descending upon them at the same time. Our characters respond in different ways. Some rise to the occasion, while it brings out the worst in others."
"The Walking Dead" season 4 is going to have a lot more elements of the comic books than fans have previously seen on television. Army veteran Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard, Jr.) is one of them. However, the storytelling is a bit different. There are going to be flashbacks and "other unconventional narrative devices" that will help fit all the pieces together.
As far as Michonne is concerned, actress Danai Gurira says that her character has some "unfinished business she needs to confront."
It was also revealed that the group and the Governor (David Morrissey) will meet again and there will be blood. His whereabouts will be explained through flashbacks.
