'The Walking Dead': Robert Kirkman talks about Negan

"The Walking Dead" television series doesn't always follow the comics and sometimes fans want to see a certain character appear on the show. This is the case with Negan, one of the villains in the graphic novels. Last year there were rumors that Negan would be the next villain to appear on the show, but creator Robert Kirkman said that it would not be happening soon, although that it was always a possibility for the future. On April 11, MTV reported an update on this character.

In the comics, Negan is a sadistic character who even tried to kill Rick and thought he had succeeded. However, he was in for a surprise when he discovered that Rick was alive. He offered Negan a truce and said that they could rebuild civilization, but then slashed his throat. If Negan does appear on the television series, will the storyline be the same?

Even though the comics and the show have some storyline and character development similarities, there are also things that have been done differently. For example, in the comics Rick is a lot farther into the zombie apocalypse. Living in a destroyed world and having to put up with both walkers and survivors who don't have the best intentions puts characters through certain experiences. Those experiences shape and mold people, sometimes changing how they think and deal with others.

As far as if Negan will be appearing on the television show "The Walking Dead," both Kirkman and showrunner Scott Gimple have that in their long-term plans. However, viewers will be waiting a while before the character will be seen. Some fans thought that Negan would replace the Governor as the villain, but Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly that he felt that there needed to be some time between the Governor and Negan.

Are you looking forward to seeing Negan in "The Walking Dead?" When do you think that he will be introduced and will he be just like the comic book version or will the writers make changes to the character?
