'The Walking Dead': Robert Kirkman shares progress of season 3

Season 2 of "The Walking Dead" finally returned to AMC on Sunday night, and ironically, there are still some people talking about a third season to air next year. The show has already been renewed, and for good reason -- it is the highest-rated scripted show on cable, and it also has a devoted fanbase courtesy of the source material.

Speaking in a new chat with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Robert Kirkman had this to say about the progress the show was making when it came to a season 3:

"Right now we’re finishing up our third week of writing. We’re constantly shocking ourselves. I can say right now the third season is going to be insane."

Of course, we do still have several episodes of season 2 to get through before that even happens -- so stay tuned, as we'll have more of the twists and turns that are coming up.
