AMC Television's horror favorite "The Walking Dead" will soon return to television, and with a new showrunner, reported Fangoria and Bloody Disgusting on Monday.
The popular show about the zombie apocalypse was created by Frank Darabont, and has attracted a huge fan base in its first two seasons, both fans of horror and non-horror fans alike. Darabont began as showrunner, and was succeeded by Glen Mazzara in 2011, who stepped down earlier this year due to creative differences with AMC. Scott M. Gimple will take over now, having already been a writer and producer on the show.
Gimple's filmography includes work on "Life", "Chase", "Flashforward", and "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance", and has written such "Walking Dead" episodes as "Hounded" and "18 Miles Out".
The second half of the third season finds the characters in tatters, and leader Rick questioning his sanity. When the Governor poses the group's greatest challenge yet, Rick must somehow pull everyone back together, including his own doubting son, in order to survive.
The show returns on February 10th, at 9/8C, with episode 3.09: "The Suicide King".
