“The Walking Dead” episode “The Suicide King” aired Feb. 10. Fans saw a new side to a few different characters.
As the midseason premiere for "The Walking Dead", "The Suicide King" properly introduced new characters such as Tyrese and his gang, showed the breakdown of Rick Grimes as a leader to the survivors in the prison, and shed light on The Governor and his mental state after a violent fight with Michonne. It also let fans know the fate of the Dixon brothers, Merle and Daryl.
“The Suicide King” starts as Daryl and Merle are in a ring, set to fight to the death as per orders from The Governor. Maggie saves the day when she starts shooting the walkers attacking the brothers in the ring.
As the fog and smoke from the fire consumes the arena, you see The Governor slowly make his way through the crowds with a disturbing grin on his face. Has he finally lost is now that Michonne killed his daughter Penny?
One free from Woodbury, Rick, Daryl, Merle, and Maggie meet Glenn and Michonne back at the car. Michonne is visibly disturbed at Merle’s presence and tries to shoot him. Rick and Daryl stop her. Glenn is not happy either after the torture Merle put him through.
Rick decides it’s best to leave Merle behind again. Daryl makes the decision to leave the group, simply saying: "No Merle no me. That's all I can say." The Dixon brothers take off on foot.
During the argument, news Michonne was a friend to Andrea comes to light. Rick and Glenn realize there’s more to Michonne than she has told them.
Back at the camp Herschel stitches everyone up. Maggie, Glenn, and Rick meet Tyrese and his friends, Sasha, Allen, and Ben. Lori’s baby Judith also greets Rick as he returns to the prison.
Carol finds out Daryl is not coming back. Unhappy but realistic with his decision to leave, she says to Beth: "Daryl has his code, this world needs men like that."
Walkers make their way into Woodbury, killing off one of their men. Andrea stands over his body as he moans in pain. The Governor walks out of his house and shoots him in the head without a second thought.
Andrea is angry with The Governor (Phillip) and how he handled the shooting. She says, “Don’t blame them for the mess you created.” She asks him why he never told her Maggie and Glenn were in Woodbury. He answers: “You're just visitor here, just passing through. So why should I tell you?”
Andrea talks to the people in Woodbury and is able to calm them down.
The episode ends on a strange note. Rick Grimes loses it as he sees the ghost of Lori Grimes, his dead wife. Lori appears in a long white dress, shaking her head at him. Tyrese and his friends assume he is yelling at them to leave and they quickly take off. Little do they know, he is having a conversation with a ghost.
