It looks like fans of the “The Walking Dead” will have a new show to get excited about! On Sept. 16, AMC announced a spinoff to the popular series. The new series is currently looking at a premiere launch date in 2015. No name for the series has been announced yet.
Gale Anne Hurd, Robert Kirkman and David Alpert will be the executive producers to the new show. AMC’s president and general manager, Charlie Collier, said “Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer.” He went on to say that it is a big world and they are excited to bring fans another “unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”
“The Walking Dead” was created by Robert Kirkman. It is based on a comic book series he created and wrote. Kirkman has said of the new spinoff series that he couldn’t be more thrilled about creating a new part to “The Walking Dead” universe.
Season 3 of “The Walking Dead” proved to grow even further in popularity and had more viewers than popular sitcom the “Big Bang Theory.” Fans are looking forward to season 4 of the hit zombie show, which is scheduled to premiere Oct. 13.
“The Walking Dead” can be seen Sunday nights at 8 P.M. CST on AMC.
